Barron F. serves in the 82 Airborne of the Army. They are based out of Fort Bragg, NC. A few months ago, Barron and his group went as peacekeepers during the recent elections in the country of Afghanistan. He was posted in the city of Bagram. Convoy Home was proud to supply him and his platoon with an assortment of care packages. Items included calling cards, personal hygiene products, video games, and electronics to name a few. A special thanks to Barron and to the 82nd!

MEMORANDUM FOR Convoy Home

Subject: Letter of Appreciation for "Hearts from Home"

1. On behalf of the California Army National Guard and the Soldiers and Families of "Task Force Nighstalkers" I express my deep gratitude for your support of "Hearts from Home". The hand made cards and messages from the children are very touching, their innocence a salve for the hearts of us rough and hardened Soldiers.

2. Extended separations from our family are very hard, even more so when our men are now in harm's way. The Global War on Terror has placed demands on the Army National Guard not seen since World War Two, over 60 years ago. The men of the First Battalion 184 Infantry Regiment have answered history's call and are on their way to destiny, leaving behind their families for 18 long months. The missives and well wished from these children are a poignant reminder of all that we hold dear and all that we risk our lives to protect.

3. Your support of our Soldiers is a noticeable part of a broad base of support we have experience from our local communities. I cannot express enough how profound and inspirational this is for our troops and their families. The Army National Guard is a community-based organization and our Soldiers serve an extended period of time in the same units. The support and care provided by our fellow citizens for our deployed Soldiers and the families they leave behind gives great moral support for the trials, hardships, and grief that lay ahead. I am both humbled and honored to be in the service of such citizens and the great republic that represents you. Thank you again.
