Convoy Home - Programs
Operation KIT
During times of war few truly understand the pangs of longing and
loss felt by family and friends of our soldiers serving far from home.
Advances in technology have immeasurably helped soldiers in the field.
The ability to communicate faster and more effectively has brought profound
benefits to our troops - and to their families waiting for their safe
return. Operation Keep In Touch (KIT) provides tangible ways for service
people and their families and friends to keep in touch. We provide them
with calling cards, instant message units, and satellite phones so they
can “keep in touch”.
Mission Critical
Convoy Home, with your generous assistance, will
send our military service men and women additional basic essentials.
We supply them with daily necessities like deodorant, soap, hand wipes,
q-tips, and sunscreen. These may seem like nominal items but they are
truly appreciated when they are in short supply. Your help will make
their often difficult circumstances a bit more comfortable through the
receipt of a monthly Convoy Home care package. The
“Care” package is a long tradition of American families
and supporters of our troops overseas. This tradition is alive and well
at Convoy Home.
G.I. Gizmo
We all work very hard during the week. Most of us look forward to
our weeknights and weekends. Just imagine if you were in a strange place
with little to nothing to do. Passing the time would be a difficult
matter if there were few entertainment options, no games to play, little
of interest to hold your attention, and no family with you. The G.I.
Gizmo program works to bring our troops some entertainment options.
By sending a platoon a video game consol, by sending individuals a portable
DVD player or a satellite radio, or by getting them books and magazines
of interest… we try to allow them to unwind and relax.
