Convoy Home - Frequently Asked
Questions
-
What categories of service people does Convoy Home help?
Convoy Home seeks to help military personnel
serving overseas and their families that are separated from them. Our
programs run during war-time and peace-time being that families that
are split up, face similar needs regardless of the situation. During
times of war, the majority of our services go to the men and women that
are serving in the countries of conflict, as usually that is where the
greatest individual needs lie. Our program endeavors to give equal attention
to all branches of the armed forces.
-
In what countries/regions does Convoy Home offer services?
Our efforts are geared around assisting overseas
U.S. military personnel. We send our “care packages” and
other items to U.S. military bases overseas and to countries were our
troops have been deployed. Our fundraising event offerings are primarily
based in California.
-
Do your programs run year round?
Yes, our organization is active year round,
as are our programs.
-
Who is eligible to participate in the program?
The scope of our program is only limited by the resources at
our disposal. Participants are selected after filling out an eligibility
assessment application. Precedence is given to those that have the lowest
amount of personal resources and to those that can demonstrate the greatest
amount of negative impact on family life since being separated.
-
I know of an overseas service person that could use the help of Convoy
Home. How do I connect them and their family to your program?
The “Contact
Us Page” can be used to provide us with referrals. You may
also call the phone number listed.
-
What is required to volunteer with Convoy Home?
We look for people that are interested in supporting our troops
overseas. One does not need to be “pro-war” or “anti-war”
to participate. Where there are differences of opinion regarding when
and where troops should be deployed, we can all come together to support
them when they are in harms way. Volunteers are screened using background
checks and reference verification in order to best ensure safety for
the organization and to maintain the integrity of the program in general.
-
How can I become involved?
If you are interested in becoming a volunteer
or would like to offer helpful suggestions, please let us know through
the “Contact Us Page.” We are
also looking for additional staff to focus on obtaining corporate donations.
-
Are my donations to Convoy Home tax-deductible?
Yes! Convoy Home is a program of Inner Voice
Community Services, a 501(c)3 organization licensed in the state of
California. Your generous contributions are 100% tax-deductible.
-
What is Inner Voice Community Services?
Inner Voice Community Services is the parent organization of
the Convoy Home program. The goal of the organization
is to serve communities by providing real, tangible benefits to the
many sectors we serve. Although IVCS sponsors many programs, rest assured
that 100% of your contributions to Convoy Home go to
that program and that program only.
-
On
my credit card bill the donation reads that it was made to Inner Voice
Community Services. Why does it read that way?
Inner Voice Community Services is the parent non-profit
organization of this program. All donations are routed through IVCS
in order to streamline the organization’s accounting operation
and to provide the tax-deductible benefit to donors. The monthly statement
you receive will detail this as well for your records. Should you have
any additional questions please call or email us at anytime.
-
Can I make a donation in honor of someone else?
Yes, you can. When donating, please specify
that you wish to make a donation in honor of someone else. You will
be prompted to enter the necessary information and will subsequently
be sent something to commemorate your gift.
-
Why can’t I make a one-time donation on the site?
For our non-corporate donors we ask that those interested in
helping the soldiers and their families to sign up for an automatic
monthly donation. Many non-profit organizations spend much of their
annual budgets on fundraising instead of actually helping those in need.
Instead of spending tens of thousands of dollars on marketing we would
prefer to have donors willing to make a consistent monthly commitment.
To accomplish this we ask for a very low commitment, starting at under
$10 per month. It may not seem like much help to the program, but multiplied
by many thousands of donors across the country it makes a significant
difference. And by doing this, the organization can focus on helping
those in need, instead of heavy fundraising. If you are interested in
making an additional donation, or do not own a credit card, you may
send a check or money order to the address listed on the Contact
Us Page.
-
Can companies donate items for the “care package” or for
an event?
Yes! If your company is interested in donating items for the
“care packages” or to assist in event fundraising, please
let us know. Companies such as Sprint have donated items such as calling
cards to include in what we send our troops. Currently we are only interested
in new, factory sealed items.
