Convoy Home - About Us
Convoy Home is a non-profit organization with a clear
and important mission: giving back to those that risk their lives to
protect us.
We strive to make life more tolerable and a little more comfortable
for American military personal that are serving overseas. In too many
cases, service people that are stationed away from home do not have
some of the things we take for granted. We feel that it is our responsibility
to take care of those people that risk their lives for us. Our programs
at Convoy Home are tailored to make a modest but heartfelt
difference for the troops and their families.
We find individuals and groups that are in need of items that are either
too expensive or not readily availabe to them. Such items include calling
cards so they can stay in better contact with friends and family back
in the United States. We provide basic needs items such as hand wipes,
deodorant, q-tips, etc. Such items are often in very short supply and
therefore at the top of many people’s wish list. We also attempt
to provide an opportunity for rest and relaxation by providing entertainment
items like DVD players, video games, and personal cd and mp3 players.
Several of our staff members have personal experiences with the difficulties
of having loved ones away from home that are in harm’s way. The
concept of the organization began by a few people sending holiday packages
to our troops in other countries. With the events of the past few years,
we heard and saw as more soldiers and their families were faced with
similar issues. As the need continued to become greater we decided to
expand our individual efforts in order to make a larger impact. We decided
to form a non-profit organization that would rely on the small but continued
contributions of those that wished to assist. Convoy Home
allows a greater number of people the opportunity to become a part of
the solution and to allow a greater number of military personnel the
chance to receive needed assistance. Together we really can make a difference.
